Jacob was born in Poland and grew up in Norway. He graduated from the producing program at The National Film School of Denmark in 2011. He has a bachelor in Film Studies and a Master in Media Production from Norwegian University of Science and Technology and went to the European Film College in 2003-04. Jacob was a co-producer on Nicolas Winding Refn's "Only God Forgives" (2013), which was selected for Competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013. After producing a number of short films, he and his partner Ditte Milsted co-produced Grímur Hákonarson's Icelandic feature "Rams" (2015), which has received numerous awards including the top prize in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes. In 2011, Jacob Jarek established the production company Profile Pictures along with producers Ditte Milsted and Thor Sigurjonsson. Profile Pictures has quickly reached a position as a successful and ambitious company in Denmark, specializing in genre films with an artistic edge, by new directors. Among their films are Ali Abassi's horror film "Shelley," (2016) selected for the Berlinale Panorama section in 2016, Rasmus Heisterberg's youth drama "In The Blood" (2016) selected for Toronto International Film Festival 2016, Fenar Ahmad's action drama "Darkland" (2017), a great critic's and box office hit, and Jens Dahl's contained thriller "3 Things" (2017). Jacob most recently produced season 3 of the acclaimed TV-series "Follow the Money" (2019) and he is in post-production on the fantasy/adventure film "Valhalla" (2019). Jacob Jarek received the Danish Directors' Ib Award in 2017.
