Richard Sseruwagi (Seruwagi) also known as Richard Kaigoma Sseruwagi was born in a small village called Matanga in Masaka district in Uganda (The pearl of Africa). After college and higher secondary at Kitovu St Henrys, he joined the Abafumi Theatre and Music Academy ran by the late Robert Serumaga. During the four years of his education, Richard Sseruwagi and the fifteen members of the academy had a golden chance to visit and work abroad in theatres around the world four to six months every year. They developed a theatre that was admired and respected all around the globe. But their success was not appreciated by all. In the end of 1976, Sseruwagi and company were forced to flee the country as the mad dictator Idi Amin Dada put a price on their heads saying that the Abafumi academy was spreading rumors abroad against him and his government. The journey to freedom was long as Sseruwagi and the company tried to seek refuge. Sseruwagi finally settled in Sweden in 1978. Struggling to find his place in the new country he worked in hotels washing dishes, cleaning offices and toilets, distributing the morning papers etc... Where there is a will, there is always a possibility of advancement to new horizons. Sseruwagi has for a long time now been fully pursuing his art craft, theatre, film and music, and has continued to do so up to this moment thanks to his talent ,will and courage. Richard Sseruwagi is also a recording artist. His first three albums Racing The Clouds 2005 ,Life is a footstep 2009, Näset Blues 2013 were published under the name Seruwagi and the latest album Under Your Beautiful Wings 2016 as Richard Sseruwagi.
