Joanna Koss is an award winning filmmaker. Her work has earned multiple awards including Best Picture and The 2021 Fearless Female Filmmaker Award - for bringing to the screen thought-provoking issues that stimulate public debate. Joanna boldly tackled the difficult societal challenge of military sexual trauma. Being a first generation American helped shape Joanna's pioneering spirit. At age 11, she started working in commercials. In her early teens, Joanna acted throughout theaters in NYC and internationally. At 16, she enrolled in Harvard University. Joanna speaks English (originally as a second language), French, Polish, Spanish, and some Italian. Joanna attended Columbia University from which she graduated and where she came under the mentorship of the well-respected director Wynn Handman. With her proven track record, she produced several award winning films over the last several years, including LAST CALL (2017) a feature about poet Dylan Thomas' last days starring John Malkovich, HUSH (2020), a short film depicting Adolf Hitler's 1933 raid of the famed transgender cabaret the El Dorado, and RAW (2020) - an award-winning short film about a female soldier's experience during military patrol in the Middle East. In PREY(2021), a courageous young girl exposes and brings to justice a religion-based con scheme. Joanna is a skilled martial artist and a professional scuba diver. She graduated from Columbia University and earned a certification from MIT.
