Ben York Jones

Ben York Jones studied film at Chapman University, and in the years that followed began to carve out his place in the world of independent cinema. Jones first appeared starring in the art-house comedy Douchebag, which premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. He also co-wrote the highly improvised film, but instead took an associate producer credit. The following year, Jones and frequent collaborator Drake Doremus began developing Like Crazy, a film that would be informed by their respective experiences with long distance relationships. A mere ten months elapsed from page to screen, and the micro budget feature went on premier at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, picking up a Special Jury Prize for breakout actress Felicity Jones, and winning the US Dramatic Grand Jury Prize. The film was acquired by Paramount Pictures and released to critical acclaim in the fall of 2011. Next, Jones co-wrote the tense family drama Breathe In starring Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones, Amy Ryan and Mackenzie Davis. The film premiered at 2013 Sundance Film Festival, and was the opening night film of the 2013 Edinburgh Film Festival. Around this time, Jones sparked a TV focused collaboration with director Michael Mohan. Among their first projects together was an edgy coming-of-age series entitled Fucking Boring. After a three-pronged bidding war, the project landed at Netflix where it was ordered to series and re-titled Everything Sucks! The 10 episode series premiered to favorable reviews in February 2018, but was controversially canceled after only two months of streaming. In the weeks and months following, the show's online fan base passionately campaigned for a reversal on the decision. While developing Everything Sucks!, Jones also wrote and produced the raw millennial drama Newness. Jones dedicated the screenplay to Like Crazy star Anton Yelchin, whose sudden death in 2016 became a motivating source of inspiration. Newness, starring Nicholas Hoult, Laia Costa and Danny Huston, premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and was later acquired by Netflix. Jones' adaption of Ruta Sepetys' WWII New York Times Bestseller Between Shades of Gray, re-titled Ashes in the Snow, was shot on location in Lithuania over the summer and winter of 2016. Now complete, the film awaits a release date. IMDb Mini Biography By: [LRE](https://imdb.com/search/name?bio_author=LRE&view=simple&sort=alpha) Vis kilde på IMDb
