Adwoa Akoto

Adwoa Akoto is a British actress. She was born in London, England to Ghanaian parents. When Adwoa was eight, her family moved to Ghana. Adwoa lived there for three years before moving back to London to start her secondary school education. Her father wanted all his children to have english names so Adwoa shares the same first and last name as her younger sister who is also born on a Monday according to Ghanaian naming traditions. Adwoa enjoyed writing from an early age, completing her first book when she was seven. She then started performing scenes from her book to family members, this is when her passion for acting began. When she was in school, her drama teacher noticed her talent and used the school's sponsorship fund to get her into a youth theatre operating at the Hackney Empire. She made her Television debut in 2013 and her film debut in 2016. She is set to appear in the HBO/BBC television series January 22nd in 2020.
